Robservations for September 9, 2021

9 Sep

As I reflect on the past year and a half I have come to a couple stark realizations. Obviously we all have very different back-grounds and very different journeys ahead of us. No person is the same and very few think exactly the same. Many people think very similarly but we all have an assortment of different thoughts and beliefs on a lot of issues. Any of my readers can tell that I have pretty strong opinions on a lot of topics and they do not always (seldomly actually) align with the main narratives we get from our mainstream media.

In my mind it is okay to disagree with people and offer alternative ideas and I do get a lot of amazing support from those with similar beliefs. But I also get plenty of very harsh hate directed towards me. Many of us cannot fathom that someone would have a different opinion and rather than listening and exploring we shut down critical thinking and go into emotional mode. I am no different in that respect but we all like to think we are above that.

So I have to ask myself, “Am I making a positive difference in this community with my writing?” That would be great if I was and on many things, I know that I am. But with the latest things happening around us, I am really just helping to divide people which is really not a good thing. I have to find a way to change it. So I am going to try a different approach this week.

Rather than giving you my opinions on most things I will just suggest a few places that you can find things out for yourself. I know that will still offend a few of you and that many will never look at anything but that is okay. I really just want everyone to live a long and healthy life, however that looks.
