2 May

Life brings many changes. I grew up in a small West Kootenay town (Castlegar) which is quite similar to Invermere. Lots of outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, swimming, boating, biking, golfing and more.
But like most youth, I hated it. I couldn’t wait to get away to University and the big city. Crazy isn’t it? I did several years in Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary. Chasing the mighty dollar so I could experience the ‘exciting’ night life or go to a concert, hock-ey/football game, a fancy restaurant or whatever. Maybe I could even save enough to get out to visit friends in Inver-mere and do some camping, fishing, etc.
Now here I am, back in paradise, inviting my poor (all they have is money and the desire for more) city friends to experience this place with me. Some of them just love to work to try to ‘get ahead’.
I feel very rich (although money for stink-ing bills is always a concern) yet I survive on a fairly meager income. But I do have an amazing dog, a fishing rod, bike, camp-ing gear, golf clubs, hiking boots and more. I wake up in paradise every day, choosing how to get out there and enjoy myself. Lucky, lucky, lucky.
We all have a lot to be grateful for and life feels much better when we remember that.
