Society places a lot of expectations on us. We are taught that we have to get an education,
get a job, buy a vehicle, get married, buy a house, have children, raise them and work our whole lives to reach retirement.

We are taught an expected timeline and put ourselves under incredible pressure to try to live up to it. We think that achieving all that will eventually bring us happiness. Many of us never achieve those ‘successes’ and feel stressed and inadequate in our lives.

The thing is, so much of that stuff does not really matter. What matters is that you are doing what brings you happiness. You can try to achieve all these things, but you don’t have to do it on some set timeline. Do things at your own pace that allows you to be happy along the journey.

Have fun. Be nice. Do things you enjoy. Spend time loving your family.

Do not compare yourself to your more ‘successful’ friends. Many of them are secretly very miserable and jealous of your awesome, happy, relaxed life.

Life is not about keeping up with others, it is about happiness and love and giving. Be a part of a good life. Do not let a picture in your head of how life is ‘supposed’ to be keep you from enjoying your actual life.
