Lift your eyes, lift your head and lift your spirits. It is amazing what a difference you can make in your day just by where you have your eyes as you are walking.
Being a tall guy, I have always had my eyes aiming downward. Most folks are a bit shorter than me and I am clumsy so I have to really watch where I am walking. Unfortunately, lowering my eyes often low-ers my spirits.
I find that when I look down my brain is often locked into heavy thoughts. Health, finances, relationships and other issues keep me deep in thought.
Then I look up. What a difference. Sud-denly I see beauty all around me. Whether it is another walker exchanging a smile or a beautiful nature scene, my spirits lift in-stantly. I become so much more aware of the gifts around me.
The world is an incredible place. We just have to remember to take the time to no-tice it. Beautiful skies, day or night, gor-geous mountains, amazing colours, lovely lakes, meandering meadows, bubbling brooks, fantastic flowers and more.
So look up and look ahead folks. See the things that are before and forget about the things that are behind and beneath you.
